Working with Kim was like a dream. He has a real calming influence. I was simply blown away by what he caught. Small things like a picture of my grandmother on the wall that I would never think to have photograph.
Áine & Anthony’s wedding was inspired by the elegance of Italy and their love for family. After trips abroad hunting for venues, the pull was towards home and all that meant to them. A beautiful Catholic wedding ceremony & mass in the church that Áine grew up, then the rest of the day at The Walled Garden at Beeston Fields, in their hometown of Nottingham. A secluded spot where kids could roam free & grown up guests could enjoy some nice outdoor vibes.
I absolutely loved the sense of family & belonging at this wedding. The warmth (and volume!) of their close knit Irish families, kids banding together & going barefoot to explore the edges of the garden, the priest who married them – a close family friend – joining the bridal party on the top table (and listening through a somewhat salty best man speech!). There were endless echoes to the importance of family…
They were married a day before Áine’s parent’s 40th wedding anniversary. And amazingly, Anthony’s parents also celebrated their own 40th anniversary earlier in the year. And oh yeah, in his speech Anthony casually mentioned that Áine was pregnant and they are expecting number three soon! You should have heard the response!
One of my favourites parts of the day was heading out with Áine & Anthony in the fading light. Áine, in love with English lace, had a bespoke dress made by local Notts boutique Kula Tsurdiu. A full length lace sleeve & tulle skirt which, alongside table details like the grey linen, candles & green foliage – lovingly styled by Imagine Events – was another romantic nod to Italian vibes. This Irish beauty was absolutely smouldering in the evening light. And not to forget Anthony in his stylish black tux. Boom.
I left that night as 90s R&B mixed by Nott’s own DJ Razor segued into Irish Trad – which is not so jarring as you might imagine!
Here are Áine & Anthony proving that you can channel glamorous Italian vibes & family feels simultaneously on your wedding day.
Shout out to our wonderful buddy Lara Elliott who filmed the day, is an ace dinner companion and also supplied delicious caramel shortcake at crucial parts of the day!
Also want to mention a couple of other amazing suppliers. Yummy Little Cakes for the crazy good wedding cake & cookie wall – which was decimated in a flash! And our pal Nicola over at Rose Press for designing some amazing looking stationary. You can also check out Nicola in her own bespoke Kula Tsurdiu dress when we shot her wedding day a little while back.
